2017 Vacation Bible School Planning – Interested in helping out with VBS planning and execution this year? Of course you are! Plan to stay after church on Sunday, May 21st and meet with Jay in the church house to begin planning this years super awesome VBS! Hope to see you there!

 

Family Photos – We will be taking family photos on May 14th at the church house (outside – weather permitting) immediately following Sunday service.  For more information, please see Lorraine Spaulding or Kasey Blouse.

 

Musicians/Singers Needed We need more musicians and singers to become part of our Praise & Worship Team.  If you would be interested in playing an instrument on singing, please contact the Church Office at 540-381-5100 or send an email to the attention of Ron Kenyon at office@newriverweb.org.

 

Pop Top Collection – We would love to give back to the Ronald McDonald house by donating pop tops.  All proceeds go to help operate the RMD house.  Just save the pop top off your can and place them in the container labeled “Pop Tops” on the Missions Table NO LATER THAN  June 25th.

Help Needed with Mowing – The church is in need of several volunteers to do mowing this year.  It will only involve a couple hours once a month.  Please contact Mark Folden at 320-9958 if you would be willing to help.

 

Giving Tree Food Pantry – We are in need of 5 or more volunteers to help at the Giving Tree Food Pantry at Fieldstone UMC located at 3385 North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, VA on May 12th  from 5:45 pm – 7:15.  Contact Lorraine Spaulding at lorrainespaulding@yahoo.com  if you have any questions.

 

Nights at the Round TableMay 28th at 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm in the River Kids Building.  We had great participation, discussion, and suggestions in February.  Come again with your suggestions and thoughts on any topic.  It is your forum.  We hope to see you there!

 

Praying for Students and Leaders – If you would be willing to commit to praying for a student or leader before, and each day of the Summer Trip, please see Sheila Neuse.

 

It’s that time of year again!  RAGE student ministries is preparing for our annual summer trip.  We try to provide scholarships for students who wouldn’t be able to go otherwise.  A complete scholarship is $350, but any amount is appreciated.  Scholarships also enable us to reach new students that God brings at the last minute!  Questions?  See or contact Sheila Neuse at 449-5712.

 

Graduates! — If you will be graduating from high school, college or completing a graduate degree this year, please write your name, school and degree on a blue card and drop it in the offering or email the church office at office@newriverweb.org.

 

Alzheimer/Dementia Toy Drive– Starting in May we’ll be collecting new and very gently used toys for the Alzheimer and dementia residents at Warm Hearth Village. Items can be things like soft bodied baby dolls, plastic tool boxes with tools, wallets and purses with various objects in them, some examples are play money, cardboard credit cards, pictures, tissues, keys, and other various things. Please nothing “edible” like play dough or small enough to fit in the mouth. If you need more info. please see Kelly Linkous or email at kellogg084@live.com.
